Highlight of the Week: Elementary Playgrounds
You may have noticed that one of the playgrounds at the front of the elementary school is no longer there. While it may look like we are simply taking something away, we are actually getting very close to one of the most exciting parts of our bond plan: improving and reimagining our elementary playgrounds!
Going all the way back to our initial bond planning committees, our community identified several things that were important when it came to our elementary playgrounds:
- Move all playgrounds behind a secured fence to create a safer environment for our students.
- Improve the playing surfaces with safer options, whether that means permanent soft surfaces or improved rubber mulch designed to provide a safer place for students to play.
- Create a playground specifically designed for our youngest students, giving our early childhood students a space that is developmentally appropriate and built with their needs in mind.
- Make our playgrounds ADA accessible and accommodating for all students, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to participate and enjoy these spaces.
- Improve and expand our playground spaces so we can better serve the different age groups and needs of our elementary students.
THIS IS IN MOTION!
The grading and drainage work is approaching completion, and we are now shifting our focus toward finalizing the playground plans.
When this project is complete, our elementary campus will have:
- All playgrounds located behind secured fencing
- A new early childhood playground specifically designed for our youngest students
- ADA-accessible playground designed to accommodate a wide range of students
- An upgraded playground for our older elementary students, including safer surfacing
- A third playground area to provide additional space for groups of our older students

Green: New Early Childhood Playground — a dedicated playground designed specifically for our youngest students.
Yellow: Additional Older Student Playground — a new playground area that will provide additional play space for our older elementary students.
Blue: Existing Playground Improvements — updating the soft surface on the existing playground to provide a safer and improved playing environment for our students.
In the end, our goal is simple: every elementary student will have a secure, safe, accessible, and FUN place to play.
We would love to share renderings of what all of this will look like, but we aren't quite there yet. We are still finalizing those plans.
But it is coming!
