Bond Construction Update
Exciting things continue to happen with Bond construction across BGISD! The new Elementary parking lot is moving at a great pace, with gravel now spread and pavement expected to begin soon. You may have noticed quite a few new light poles throughout the parking area as well. Our previous parking lot had only three light poles and only two of those worked! The new parking lot will have 17 light poles, providing much better lighting, safety, and visibility for our students, staff, families, and visitors.
Work is also progressing on the new Elementary office spaces. Crews are currently forming the piers that will support the new addition, and construction on the building itself will begin soon. Another major piece of the Elementary project is now complete with the drainage improvements behind the building finished. This was an important part of the project and will help address drainage concerns that have existed on the campus for years.
We have also been meeting with playground companies as we begin planning the next phase of improvements for our students. We hope to bring forward a plan soon for both a new early childhood playground designed for our youngest students and a new “big kid” playground for our older elementary students. These spaces will be another exciting improvement to the Elementary campus and something our students will be able to enjoy for years to come.
At the High School and Junior High, we have reached the 95% plan stage for the remaining bond projects. We hope to have those plans approved at our next Board meeting, with construction scheduled to begin around November. Once that work begins, we will start seeing some major changes and improvements across both campuses.
There is a lot happening throughout BGISD, and it is exciting to see the community’s investment taking shape. Be sure to take a look at the pictures of the construction happening across the district!
