Praytor, McCurrin, Parr, and Wilhoite Families Make Generous Donation to Benefit BGISD Students and Staff

Blooming Grove ISD is proud to announce a generous donation from the Praytor, McCurrin, Parr, and Wilhoite families dedicated to the advancement of BGISD students and staff.

The Blooming Grove ISD Board of Trustees previously approved the donation, and district leadership has since worked closely with members of the families to develop a plan that ensures these funds make a meaningful impact across the district and benefit a wide variety of students and staff.

“We are extremely thankful to the Praytor, McCurrin, Parr, and Wilhoite families for their generosity and their commitment to Blooming Grove ISD,” said Superintendent John Griggs. “From the beginning, our goal has been to make sure this gift has a direct and lasting impact on our students and the staff members who serve them every day. We are excited that our students will begin seeing that impact immediately.”

Immediate Impact in the Classroom

One of the first investments made possible by this donation is already in the district’s hands. BGISD has purchased iPads for every core classroom teacher in the district.

Distribution of the devices will begin soon, providing teachers with an additional instructional tool that can be used for lesson delivery, classroom mobility, student engagement, collaboration, and other instructional opportunities.

“This is about giving our teachers more tools to do what they do best, teach our kids,” Griggs said. “Technology should enhance great instruction, and these iPads will give our teachers another resource they can immediately put to work in their classrooms.”

Investing Across the District

BGISD is also continuing to explore additional opportunities made possible through the donation, including the development of podcast and media spaces for students and improvements to sound systems used at district athletic events.

These projects are being considered with a focus on creating opportunities that reach students with a wide range of interests from academics and technology to communications, extracurricular activities, and athletics.

The district is committed to being intentional with every dollar of the donation and ensuring the investment provides both immediate benefits and opportunities that can serve BGISD students for years to come.

A Message from the Families

The Praytor, McCurrin, Parr, and Wilhoite families shared the following message regarding their gift:

“This donation is made with a sincere desire to expand academic opportunities, strengthen technology, and support programs that will benefit today’s students and those for generations to come. We believe that investing in our children is one of the greatest investments we can make, because strong schools build strong communities.

We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to a school district that helps shape the future, and we are thankful to play a small part in that mission.

We hope this gift serves not only as an investment in our students, but also as a reminder of what a community can accomplish when it comes together to support the next generation.”

Blooming Grove ISD extends its sincere appreciation to the Praytor, McCurrin, Parr, and Wilhoite families for choosing to invest in the future of BGISD.

“This is what community is all about. When people choose to invest in our schools, they are investing directly in our children, our staff, and the future of Blooming Grove. We cannot thank these families enough for believing in our students and helping us continue to provide them with outstanding opportunities.” - John Griggs

Thank you to the Praytor, McCurrin, Parr, and Wilhoite families for investing in the future of Blooming Grove ISD.
