TIA was brought to BGISD to recognize the incredible accomplishments happening every day in our classrooms. It is also important for our community to understand that these designations come with financial recognition, rewarding teachers for the impact they are making on student learning and growth. Through this process, TIA has generated approximately $300,000 in state funds that will be paid directly back to our employees earning these designations.
In addition, teachers who earn a TIA designation will receive those payments for five consecutive years, while also having the opportunity to move up to a higher designation in future years based on continued performance and growth.
As a district, we are phasing in the TIA system over three years. This year, we are celebrating our Reading and Math teachers. Next year, we will expand to Science and Social Studies, followed by all remaining teaching areas in the third year.
Teachers are evaluated and placed into one of three designation categories: Recognized, Exemplary, and Master. These designations are based on a combination of classroom observations conducted by campus principals and student growth data. At BGISD, we have intentionally placed a heavier emphasis on student growth. Our goal is to ensure that every student is progressing and gaining knowledge throughout the year.
Student growth is measured through MAP and other baseline assessments administered at the beginning, middle, and end of the year. This data allows us to evaluate the growth each student makes over time. Based on these measures, teachers are placed into one of the three categories and recognized for their success in driving student achievement.
We are incredibly grateful for the hard work that has been poured into our students across all campuses. It is my honor to celebrate the following teachers for earning TIA designations:
