A Thank You for the School Board January 9, 2008
January is the first month of a new year for all of
us. In addition, the Texas Education Agency has
designated the month of January as School Board
Appreciation Month. The administration, faculty and
staff of Blooming Grove Junior High School would
like to take this opportunity extend a sincere 'Thank
You' to each member of the board and their spouses for
their effort in working in the best interest of the
school.
The school board members of the Blooming Grove
Independent School District are elected by the voters
in the school district. The board members
serve (without compensation) to study and make decisions
as a board, not as individuals, that affect the
school distrcit.
Your board members are: Jack Herod, Marty Weaver, Dan
Patterson, Tim Campbell, Teddy Ray Southard, Ricky
McGraw and Donny Grounds. You know each of them.
Please express your thanks for the great job that they
do for your children and for the school district.

December Issue of The Pride Available
Online January 7, 2008
Ms. Jennifer Brockman, BGJH Journalism teacher, announced that the
December issue of The Pride, BGJH's school newspaper, would be
available for viewing or download as a PDF file from the BGJH website. Click
here or on the picture at left
to view a copy. Adobe Reader is required, but if you do not have it,
the program can be found for free on the Adobe website at www.adobe.com.
The Pride is produced by students at BGJH and covers a wide range
of topics about life at school. BGJH is very proud of the hard work done by
the students and Ms. Brockman in producing our newspaper.
A Message from Mr. Bell, BGJH Principal (FYI, He is also known as the Big Cheese, the Head Honcho, the Top Dog, the Big Kahuna, the High Man on the Totem Pole, the Skipper, the Wheel, the Ringleader, the Kingfish, the Taskmaster, the MAN, and other things.--BGJH Webmaster ) November 13, 2007
November 1, 2007, marked the end of the 7th and 8th Grade football season.
The 7th and 8th grade teams ended the season right; with victories over Italy! Of course
the end of one season marks the beginning of another, with the first basketball game
scheduled for November 19, with the boys playing at home against Malakoff and the
girls traveling to Malakoff on the same night.
November 19 also marks the start of the 3rd Six Weeks of school, followed by
an early release from school on Tuesday, November 18 at 1:00 p.m. to start the
Thanksgiving Holidays, November 21, 22 and 23.
With the advent of a new basketball season, let’s take a moment to think about
the game, the players and fan responsibilities and behavior.
Athletic contest could not exist without rules. Just as the players have to abide
by rules on the field/court, spectators have to follow the rules in the stands. It is a
privilege, not a right, for the athletics to compete in the contest, as much as it is a
privilege for you to sit in the stands and watch the activity. The money that you paid
for the admission ticket gives you, the fan, student and/or adult the privilege to watch
two schools show off their skills and what they have learned in the athletic classroom.
Your ticket does not entitle you to disrespect or degrade others in any way. Finally,
you are the guest of the school and should act like one. Winning is an admirable goal
in any contest, but winning is nothing if it comes at the expense of morals, ethics and
common sense.
We are looking forward to a successful season and invite you to support the Blooming Grove Junior High School LIONS!
