BGJH Honored by National Center for Educational Achievement February 19, 2010
On February 18, 2010 the BGISD Board of Trustees presented a cetificate to Mr. Doyle Bell, Principal of BGJH, from the National Center for Educational Advancement recognizing BGJH as a 2009 Higher Performing School. This is in honor of the hard work of the students and staff of BGJH which has led to continued progress and academic success.
It was also noted in the presentation that BGJH was the only Junior High in Navarro county to recieve this award.
But don't worry...Even though we are very proud of this achievement, the hard work continues, and no one is letting all this national recognition go to their head. Well, except for Mr. Hilleman, of course. However, that doesn't count because it was a pre-existing condition.
New UIL District Alignments February 2, 2010
The University Interscholastic League (UIL) has released new athletic district alignments for 2010-2012. Blooming Grove will have some new and some old competition starting this fall. To see the full realignment details, go to http://www.utexas.edu/uil/alignments/index.html.
Blooming Grove will be in Conference 2A Division 2 Region 3 District 11. Members of this district are Axtell, Blooming Grove, Buffalo, Centerville, Italy, and Jewett Leon. The rumor is that officials at those other five schools are already worried about having to face the mighty BG Lions for at least the next two years.
Mr. Patison Starts Math Puzzle Page February 2, 2010
Mr. Paul Patison, Math teacher here at BGJH, has begun posting some math puzzles to help build vocabulary. You can find his puzzles by clicking here or by selecting 'Mr. Patison's Puzzles' in the 'Links' menu selection above.
The importance of building student math voculary cannot be overstated. Many words that have uses in other areas have very specific meanings that are unique to mathematics. It can be very confusing even for adults. These puzzles provide excellent practice and help build strong math skills.
